Printers: If you are running Windows, you will need to bring your own printer. If you are using a Mac, you may be able to use one of the printers at the university. If you are unable to bring your own printer, you can get one to use for the course from the university printers but unfortunately there are no discounts for students.
Your laptop should have at least 8GB of RAM (8GB or more recommended), a 4GB or greater solid state drive (SSD) to store the operating system, and the operating system should be Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 8.1 Pro or Windows 10 Home. If you have an older version of Windows, it's still fine, just upgrade to the latest version.
USB Memory Sticks: We don't have USB sticks available so we can't easily run the simulations on the conference PC. If you do have a USB stick with no more than 8GB of space available, you'll need to download and install the BootCamp Assistant on that USB stick to create a USB stick for use with BootCamp. This will also allow you to bring it to the conference. Once you have the USB stick ready to use with BootCamp, please bring it with you.
This document tells me how to do the exact opposite of what I just did. My Macbook (2013 15 inch) is running Mac OSX Yosemite (10.10.3) and everything works beautifully. The only thing I don't know how to do is to get the boot camp drivers for the Windows bootcamp partition. Has anyone had luck with that? I am just about to say goodbye to Windows and use my Mac more.
Edit: It's been 1 month since I initially posted this question, and I have found a way around this issue. I did a fresh install of Yosemite and followed the instructions exactly as specified in the document above. From that point, I was able to add a Windows 7 partition and then add drivers without a problem. Windows is able to boot, but there is a problem with the mouse and keyboard. I am not sure if it's related to me manually disabling the USB port.
Once you have the key, go to the Apple menu, and choose System Profiler. From there, go to Software. Then Software Update. Once you have downloaded the driver, reboot your Mac. After the reboot, open up Boot Camp Assistant. From there, choose Install Windows.
